About The Cliff Dwellings

Location:

Located at the foot of Pikes Peak on Cliff Dwellings Rd. off Hwy 24.

The History:

Once inhabited by Anasazi between 1200 B.C. and 1300 A. D., these cliff dwellings were built into an alcove in the side of a cliff overhang in Manitou. There is not a great deal known about these people. The cliff dwellings at Manitou are similar to those at Mesa Verde National Park in the southwestern part of the state of Colorado (Manitou Cliff Dwellings, 2008).

The Haunting:

Photos indicate a great deal of orbs in the room where people were placed after they had died. This particular room contains Native American chanting as well. There is a lot of dust in the air because the floors of the dwellings are dusty, but this particular room had more dust than the other rooms, which could not be explained by anything that we did while at the Cliff Dwellings.

Other Related Haunts:

Another spectacular haunted location involving Native American cliff dwellings is at Mesa Verde National Park. Specifically, the Cliff Palace is said to be haunted at the national park. Visitors are not usually allowed into the dwellings at the national park, but the relationship between these two haunts is still interesting.
