About Sallie House | Sallie, The Heartland Ghost-North 2nd Street Home

Sallie, The Heartland Ghost-North 2nd Street Home

Atchison, KS

Location:

Atchison, Kansas is located in northeastern Kansas.

History:

Atchison Kansas is known to many as the most haunted city in America. The city was named after David Rice Atchison and founded in the late 1800’s.

According to one source, Sallie was a six-year old girl who died in the North 2nd Street home following a fatal bout with appendicitis. Apparently, the doctor, who both lived and work at this home, was attempting to do surgery to save Sallie’s life. Unfortunately, Sallie was not given the correct amount of ether and awoke during the operation just before she died.

According to another source, Sallie was a young girl who came to the doctor to be treated for a respiratory illness. The doctor misjudged the seriousness of her illness and Sallie died. The doctor moved away from the house soon afterward.

A young couple moved into the house in 1993. They were able to live there for 22 months, however, during that time, the husband was “attacked” a number of times, often receiving scratches on his arms or his back. He was nearly shoved down the stairs during one incident. This was the event that ultimately led them to move to a new home.

This is not the only house in Atchison with really aggressive paranormal activity taking place. Check out the Waggener House (also known as the Gargoyle House). Apparently, one homeowner at this haunted Atchison location fell to his death due to the paranormal activity that took place there.

Paranormal Reports:

There have been a number of reports made about this location. Reports of paranormal activity have centered on the spirit of “Sallie”. However, a psychic was called in to investigate the home, and reported that a woman of about 30 years of age was actually responsible for a lot of the activity in the home.

Reports of objects such as toys and wall-hangings moving without explanation. Reports of cold spots, unexplained fires, welts showing up on people’s bodies without explanation.

Legends of America visited this home in 2004 and had several interesting events occur during their investigation. Current residents have reported that there is has not been a great deal of paranormal activity taking place in the home. Psychics, however, have noted that there is still a presence there. Indeed, the Legends of America investigators were able to pick up a number of interesting EVP’s, some including the voice of a little girl.

"Reports of objects such as toys and wall-hangings moving without explanation. Reports of cold spots, unexplained fires, welts showing up on people’s bodies without explanation." The fires, scratches, and welts are caused by a demonic presence in that very house, and you can tell if you have 3 scratches. Thats the sign of a demon.
