About Midland Lutheran College- Theatre

Located at 900 North Clarkson in Fremont, Nebraska, Midland Lutheran College is a four year liberal arts college. It is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

The History:

The college was established in 1883 in Atchison, Kansas German Lutheran immigrants. In 1919 it was moved to Fremont. In 1962, Luther College in Wahoo, Nebraska merged with Midland Lutheran College.

Recently, in 2006/2007, the college eliminated some of it's fine arts programs including music and drama, however the college still puts on music and drama productions regularly.

The Haunting:

Apparently the theatre above the student union is host to paranormal activities. Some speculate that the activities are caused by a "caretaker". Paranormal activities have included strange sounds and eerie feelings.

Observations:

The fine arts programs were eliminated due extremely low enrollment in the programs. I don't think this has any bearing on the reports of hauntings, but it's still an interesting tidbit in relation to the theatre.

Theatres are notoriously "haunted". Perhaps because of the "channeling" that actors/actresses do that is similar (yet still different) than the channeling performed by trance mediums, theatres tend to invite paranormal activity...or the people who frequent these places just happen to be particularly open-minded...

The student union is definately haunted. They have had to call the on call maintenance men to check out the lights before, they tend to turn on by themselves at nigt. They have also seen a man in the window on the top floor.

i used to live in Fremont, i grew up 4 houses from Midland... I used to attend Midland Lutheran College... the Student Center is definitely spiritually oppressed/possessed (i have no reason to believe in hauntings/ghosts, but i have experienced/seen lots of demonic activity at Midland). Sometimes @ night the Student Center lights would flicker on and off when the building is totally locked up, Mens hall would have strange noises coming from the basement kitchen when NO ONE was done there, I have seen the shadowy figures in the top floor windows of the old Student Union, the floorboards on the second floor where the church/chapel is located above the music classrooms creek like heavy footsteps at all hours of the night when only 3-4 of us were are on the first floor in the music room doing work, and i have had friends in the theater department come out of the theater saying they've heard voices and seen scary things, SWEARING TO ALL THINGS HOLY that they will not go into the theater alone ever again. I have personally seen and heard things in the basement classrooms (which is the computer/sciences/math hall) in the same building connected to the theater.
definitely something messed up on MLC campus.

i have lived right across the street from midland for 13 years. I used to go in the student hall and play pool before they put the electronic key card locks on all the doors. I have also been in the theater several times. Never heard or seen anything in the theater but in the student hall, you get an instant wierd feeling when you walk in there, lots of cold spots. And I have personaly seen the lights flicker on and off all ove in the building several times, and ween a shodow figure in several of the windows at night. My dad's friend is in matience in midland and says that they are constanly getting calls about the lights and hot and cold spots in that building, He has seen an aparition on the top floor one night when he went to turn the lights back off, and ever since then will not go up there again.
