About Columbus High School

Located at 2508 27th St. in Columbus, Nebraska.

The History:

The Columbus High School was the third school to be built in Columbus. Construction of the school was completed in 1958.

The Haunting:

People have heard doors slamming and electrical items turning on unexplainably late at night. According to rumors, a teacher died in the school of a heart attack.

Observations:

Schools are commonly reported to be host to paranormal activities. Whether or not the rumor regarding the school teacher who died is really true is hard to say. I would tend to think that perhaps someone "made up" this theory and it became circulated and slowly started to lose it's theoretical characteristics. But, if the "rumor" were indeed true, that would add some flavor to the paranormal activity.

I was there the day the person died of a heart attack. It was not a teacher, it was a janitor. It happened at the beginning of first period, the first day of school in the fall of 1989. There was no ghost left behind by that janitor.

I'm also a former student (class of 89, in fact), and Joe (the janitor) didn't even die on premises. He died later, at the hospital, though the heart attack happened at the school. Seems like another case of hysteria to me.
